Named as one of the world’s top financial hubs, Hong Kong has a very robust pet market. According to Mr. Chaupui Chan, Founder of Hong Kong Pet Trade Association, by the end of 2014 there were 360,000 pet dogs and 300,000 pet cats in Hong Kong, bringing in 2.4 billion HKD annual revenue for 550 pet shops and 1.6 billion HKD for 150 pet hospitals. What’s more, due to the implementation of free trade policy, Hong Kong has attracted almost every oversea renowned pet brands to enter its pet market.

However, in the last few years, Hong Kong’s pet market has eventually reached its maturity and no substantial growth is foreseen in the near future. To avoid stagnation, many Hong Kong insiders begin to set eyes on the thriving pet market of China Mainland.
